Sustaining Our Communities

With facilities in more than 170 locations in 26 countries, Timken’s local neighborhoods are as varied as our products. Getting involved is a tradition of Timken associates, who volunteer their time and leadership talent in the communities where they live and work.

In addition to associates' volunteerism, Timken touches the lives of our neighbors through grants and sponsorships as well as special programs.

Each year, we donate millions of dollars and countless volunteer hours to support education and the basic needs of the community, such as food and housing; encourage economic development; and improve the quality of life through arts and recreation programs.

Associate Involvement in Our Communities

Whether individually or through organized efforts, Timken associates are engaged in their communities by volunteering their time, talents and financial resources.

Engaging in Every Way: Timken's Got Talent

The United Way campaign is a longstanding tradition at Timken. Each year, associates are presented with their community’s theme and a summary of needs, and they’re asked to give what they can. But a cue from television made Timken’s latest campaign at the Canton, Ohio, corporate headquarters a smash-hit success – one that broke through the company’s goal in record time.

Financial Support

Each year Timken gives over $1 million USD in the form of grants to local community programs. Additionally, money is donated in the form of sponsorships for numerous community events, primarily for causes that Timken associates support with their time and talent.

A Very Special Engagement: 2007 Special Olympics, China

Timken gave a boost to Special Olympics preparations for the 2007 World Games in Shanghai as a corporate sponsor to the Special Olympics' East Asia Committee.

Education

Supporting education is one of Timken's top priorities because we realize that today's students are the future leaders of our company and business partners.

An Artful Way to Teach Engineering

Students from Canton, Ohio, area schools got an "artful" lesson in engineering by constructing sculptures out of geometric shapes. The activity was part of The Canton Museum of Art's Art in Engineering Day, co-sponsored by Timken.

Our Community Collaboration

United Way and Habitat for Humanity are two international organizations that Timken collaborates with year after year to support communities around the world.

Building Up Communities with Habitat for Humanity

Whether pouring concrete, laying roof sheeting or hanging drywall, Timken and its associates around the U.S. team up with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for deserving families in their communities – such as outside Greenville, S.C., where Timken helped build a Habitat house in 2007.
